Project Background
The Disc Golf Feasibility Study aims to resolves several identified issues related to disc golf in Whistler including:
- safety;
- access;
- trespass;
- capacity;
- unauthorized course building;
- environmental impact; and
- user experience.
The Study examines the feasibility and means to address the issues at the existing Lost Lake Disc Golf site and explore the feasibility of developing an alternative or second disc golf course elsewhere in the Whistler community.
- Focus current and future RMOW investment to best address and balance the stated issues; and
- Provide a disc golf experience in Whistler comparable to and compatible with other municipal recreation offerings.
The Study resulted in several accompanying documents that will support future planning:
- Disc Golf Feasibility Report
- “Scorecards” of additional course location suitability evaluations
- Analysis of course routing plans for Lost Lake disc golf course,
- Environmental Assessment for Lost Lake Disc Golf Course,
- Disc Golf Environmental Sustainability Guidelines
- Environmental Assessment of Potential Sites
- Environmental Impact Study: Lost Lake Disc Golf Course
- Analysis of Course Routing Plans for Lost Lake Disc Golf Course
Documents will posted after the Study has been presented to Committee of the Whole on May 27, 2025.
Community engagement was focused course and community group users. Throughout the project, the RMOW worked closely with the Whistler Disc Golf Club. The Club received regular project updates and conducted site walks as the primary interest group. Whistler Nordics were also kept informed with project updates and route mapping.
Broader community engagement will be initiated if the project moves beyond the feasibility stage.
The Whistler Disc Golf Feasibility Study is a Municipal & Regional District Tax Program (MRDT) funded project.
