Meadow Park rePlay: Phase 2 Update

5 October 2023

Thank you for your continued efforts in helping us make Meadow Park awesome!

In the first round of engagement, you shared your preferences for activities, play features, dog-friendly areas and more for Meadow Park.

We love your passion for play, so we want to make sure we have captured the ideas shared with us in the Phase 1 engagement.

With your thoughtful and creative input, we have drafted an overall Master Plan for Meadow Park, with designated activity areas, in addition to concepts for both the spray park and playground areas. These two areas have been made a priority due to their popularity and the need to replace this ageing equipment.

In phase 2 of the engagement, we want to hear from you on:

  • the Valley Trail alignment
  • the amount of proposed shade (both trees and structures);
  • the amount of seating; and
  • the features for the spray park and playground.

Here's how you can help during the Phase 2 engagement:

  • Baseball diamonds: The Master Plan proposes relocating the Whistler Minor Baseball League to the diamonds at Spruce Grove Park. In conversation with Whistler Minor Baseball leadership, we believe this can be successfully accommodated with minor improvements to the Spruce Grove diamonds and a minor scheduling adjustment. That said, we propose to test it next spring to confirm feasibility. Additionally, the RMOW will undertake improvements to the existing diamond at Myrtle Phillip to increase its usability.
  • Off-leash dog park: The draft master plan proposes a fenced in dog off-leash area. Dogs off-leash have been permitted inside the field areas at Meadow Park when the fields are not in use. There is a large dog and dog owner user group that frequently use Meadow Park so by creating a designated, fenced space, we can reduce conflict between other park users, and creates a space where dogs/owners can socialize and exercise. This approach has worked well at Alpha Lake Park.

Input period closes on Friday, June 9 at midnight.
