Meadow Park rePlay

Overview

Meadow Park was constructed almost 40 years ago and has become one of Whistler’s most popular public outdoor spaces. With increasing pressures from visitation and environmental changes, it is essential to reinvestment in aging infrastructure to meet current programming requirements and opportunities.

A key focus will be the replacement of the ever popular spray park which is at the end of its useful lifespan and does not meet current Vancouver Coastal Health requirements or Whistler’s Water Conservation Bylaw.

Other proposed improvements include enhanced picnic areas and recreational space along the river’s edge, improved site circulation, reconstructed irrigation, and drainage system, formalized off-leash dog facility, and public art opportunities.

Status: Detailed design

The Meadow Park Playground and Splash Park detailed designs, known as Phase 1, have been completed. Designs were informed by community input received earlier in 2023, in addition to Open Voices engagement in 2019.

The playground, water park and fencing of one ball diamond will be part of Phase 1 construction beginning in Spring 2024. The RMOW plans to issue an RFP for this work in the winter, with the aim to begin construction in Spring 2024.
